Access Requirements
A luxury restroom trailer is towed by a pickup truck or flatbed. The tow vehicle + trailer combination is:
- Length: 40–55 feet total (trailer 20–35 feet + tow vehicle)
- Width: 8–8.5 feet
- Height: 11–13 feet
- Weight: 8,000–20,000 lbs depending on trailer size
Your venue must have:
- A driveway or access route at least 10 feet wide (12+ preferred)
- Overhead clearance of 12+ feet for the entire access route (watch for tree branches and utility lines)
- A solid surface capable of supporting 20,000+ lbs — asphalt, concrete, or compacted gravel; not soft soil or fresh lawn
- A turning radius or straight pull-through to reach the placement location and exit
Power Requirements
Luxury restroom trailers require electrical power for climate control, lighting, and water pump operation:
| Trailer Size | Power Required | Circuit Type | Generator If No Power |
|---|---|---|---|
| 2–3 station | 20–30 amps, 120V | Standard 20A outlet | 2,000–3,500W generator |
| 4–5 station | 30–50 amps, 120/240V | Dryer outlet or disconnect | 5,000–7,500W generator |
| 6–8 station | 50–100 amps, 240V | Service disconnect | 10,000W+ generator |
For most outdoor wedding venues: a standard 20-amp outlet within 50 feet of the trailer position is sufficient for a 2–3 station unit. Discuss specifics with your vendor — they will tell you the exact circuit requirement for the specific trailer being delivered.
If no power is available, a rental generator is required. Generator rental runs $100–$300/day depending on size. The generator needs to be positioned 20+ feet from the trailer entrance to keep exhaust away from users.
Water Connection Options
Luxury trailers can get water three ways:
- Garden hose connection (preferred). A standard 3/4-inch garden hose from any outdoor spigot. Minimum 25–30 PSI. The vendor supplies the hose if you supply the spigot connection point within 100 feet.
- Onboard freshwater tank. Vendor fills the tank at delivery. Capacity: 75–200 gallons depending on trailer. Sufficient for 1-day events without refilling for most guest counts. Vendor may return to refill for multi-day events.
- No water / chemical only. For some configurations, the toilets operate with chemical treatment only (no flush). Less common in luxury trailers — verify with your vendor if water is not available.
Leveling the Trailer
Level ground is critical for luxury restroom trailer function. An unlevel trailer causes:
- Water to not drain properly from sinks and toilet connections
- Doors to swing open or closed on their own
- A slightly off-balance feeling that immediately signals "rental" to guests
The driver will use leveling jacks (built into the trailer) to correct for up to 6–8 inches of grade variation. For sites with more than 8 inches of grade at the parking location, the driver will need to find an alternate position or use cribbing blocks. Identify the most level area on your venue in advance.
Setup Timing
| Step | Typical Duration |
|---|---|
| Trailer delivery and positioning | 20–30 minutes |
| Leveling | 10–15 minutes |
| Power and water connection | 10–15 minutes |
| Interior check and final prep | 10 minutes |
| Total setup time | 50–70 minutes |
Plan for the driver to arrive 90–120 minutes before your event opens. This provides buffer for any site access surprises or connection issues.
