Before you call any rental company, decide which tier you actually need. Picking wrong — either over-spending on a luxury trailer for 50 guests or under-spending on porta potties for 300 — is the #1 cause of wedding-day restroom complaints. Use this table.

When the trailer is non-negotiable

• Anyone in formalwear — Tuxedos and gowns + porta potty floors don't mix.
• Hot or cold weather — Above 85°F or below 50°F, climate control is the difference between comfortable and miserable.
• Multi-hour ceremonies + receptions — Your guests will use restrooms 4–6 times over a 6-hour event. The cumulative experience matters.
• Photo opportunities near restrooms — A row of green porta potties in your wedding photos is nobody's preferred backdrop.
• Older guests / accessibility needs — Trailer steps + grab bars + interior lighting all matter.

When deluxe porta potties are the right call

• Backyard weddings under 50 guests — A pair of deluxe units with sinks at $85–$125/day each is the right cost-to-quality balance.
• Casual outdoor weddings (think barn, beach, park — no formalwear) — Deluxe porta potties get the job done.
• Tight budget under $500 total — Honest answer: a luxury trailer is $300+ minimum. If your full restroom budget is below $400, deluxe + ADA is the realistic path.

Why standard porta potties don't usually fit weddings

Standard porta potties (the basic green units) are rented at construction sites for a reason — they're rugged and cheap. For weddings the trade-offs are:

• No sink — only hand sanitizer dispenser
• No mirror, no light, no climate control
• Plastic floor that gets dirty fast in dress shoes
• Visible from the wedding venue if not screened

If you must rent standard porta potties (extreme budget constraint, very casual wedding), pair them with at least one standalone hand wash station and screen them from view with portable fencing.
